Bassetlaw: MP challenges Chancellor over £5 rise in cost of petrol
George Osborne was unable to tell the Bassetlaw MP how much it cost to fill up the average family car.
George Osborne was reluctant to answer John Mann’s questions leading him to ask, whether as Conservative MP Zac Goldsmith stated, the Chancellor “yearned for a China-style Government.”

John Mann said: “These figures show that the cost of fuel is continuing to go up under this Chancellor and the cost to the average family is now a fiver more every time they go to fill up their cars.”
“George Osborne wants to hide the reality that the cost of fuel has gone up a fiver because of his petrol taxes.”
“Today George Osborne has shown he is hopelessly out of touch.”
“The Chancellor needs to act now and help people who are really affected by this cost of living crisis.”
