Alford woman ordered to pay back over £3,000 after shop theft
Joanie Lawton, 38, of Windmill Lane, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on October 15, where she pleaded guilty to the theft of £3,025 from McColls Newsagents in Alford on January 7 this year.
Lawton’s sentencing was adjourned for several days while a pre-sentence report was prepared.

Hide AdWhen she returned to the court on October 22, she was ordered to pay back the full amount of money stolen by way of compensation, in addition to a £32 victim surcharge. There was no order for a payment of court costs, as the compensation repayment was prioritised by the court.
Lawton was also given a community order, with a requirement to complete 120 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months, which will be supervised by the responsible officer.
Her guilty plea was taken into account by the court when imposing sentence.
