Hide AdA spokesman for RSPCA Lincolnshire East said: “It was very dark that evening however, it looked very much like he came out of a moving yellow transit van.
“He was spotted shaking and shocked on a remote verge, directly after the vehicle passed.”
They added: “If you have any information about this - or if you think he might be your cat, call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999 quoting ref 257/09/02/16.”
The friendly cat has been temporarily named ‘Ash’ by RSPCA staff - due to his colour and being found near Ashcroft Fabrics.
If the cat is not claimed by his owner, he will go up for rehoming at the branch’s rehoming centre in Spalding.
