Lifeboats called to vessel stranded near Skegness
After a determined effort by the station’s inshore lifeboat and all-weather lifeboat, the vessel had simply not got enough water under her to be pulled from the mud flats in the area. At the time of the operation the tide was falling rapidly.
A spokesman for Skegness RNLI said: “The occupants of the vessel were transferred to the all-weather lifeboat and safely taken ashore when the lifeboat was recovered. The ILB crew remained behind to anchor the vessel in the shallow water and then also returned to station. Both lifeboats were rehoused at 9pm.”
Recovery of the yacht will be attempted again this morning at 6am on the next high tide.
