Hide AdLudford WI was among those to receive its 70th anniversary certificate and three of its members - Joan Brocklebank, Barbara Guthrie and Rosamond Wildsmith - also celebrated their 70-years of WI membership.
The certificates were presented by Radio Lincolnshire presenter Scott Dalton, who had been the morning speaker, along with the stations’ sports presenter Su Whitaker.
During the afternoon, author Julie Summers kept everyone spellbound, as she spoke about her books and the role the WI had in World War II, as highlighted in her best-selling book Jambusters, which was the basis of the popular TV series Homefires.
This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the Lincolnshire North Federation and they are celebrating by putting on a pantomime, amongst other things.
Two of the characters - comedy bears Ruby and Emerald - were there to promote the event, after all the WI is known for its ‘bear’ ladies.
