Worksop: Dramatic rise in employment for young adults is ‘encouraging’, says DWP
The figures, which were released to the Guardian last week, show that there were 365 young adults age 18-24 on Job Seeker’s Allowance (JSA) in the town in July 2014.
But as of the beginning of July 2015, there are now 210 young adults on Job Seeker’s Allowance in Worksop, with 155 young adults having found full-time or part-time employment in the past year- an increase of 42.47 per cent.

Hide AdKaren Dawn, operations manager at the DWP, said: “These encouraging figures for Worksop are inspiring to see. It’s a huge positive for the town.”
“Employment for young adults is rising because the number of jobs available is on the up, and the economic climate is generally getting stronger.”
“Young adults in Worksop are taking advantage of work experience and apprenticeships on offer in order to really sell their skills to employers and find work more easily as a result.”
“We want to make sure that this good news continues in Worksopand are putting extra steps in place to ensure this happens.”
Overall, the figures show that unemployment for young adults in Bassetlaw has dropped by 30 per cent.
Unemployment in Bassetlaw overall was found to be down by 23 per cent compared to last year.
