Worksop: ‘One in a million’ teaching assistant honoured with Guardian Rose
Cheryl Perkins, who works at Redlands Primary School in Worksop, was nominated for the accolade by Rachel Sanaghan on behalf of her 11-year-old son, Joshua.
Joshua, who has learning difficulties, has thanked Cheryl for providing extra support and taking him ‘under her wing’ since he arrived at Redlands seven years ago.

Rachel said: “I honestly don’t think that Mrs Perkins can be beaten. She has been amazing with my son and we can’t thank her enough for all she has done.”
“They have become very close and I don’t know who is going to miss who the most!”
Cheryl said: “Josh kept saying he had a surprise for me but I had no idea what it was. It was a still a big shock! But it’s lovely to have been nominated.”
