Market Rasen Cricket Club announce trio of new captains
With First XI skipper Matthew Rutherford leaving the club to return to Lindum CC, Liam Scales has been chosen to lead the side in the Lincolnshire Premier Division following their relegation from the Lincolnshire County Board Premier League.
Despite dropping down a division after two seasons in the county’s top flight, Rutherford topped the league’s bowling averages last season and was leading wicket-taker with 70 victims.

A club spokesman said: “The club would like to thank both Matthew and Jono and for their commitment to the roles of First XI and Second XI captain over the past few years.”
After a great season last year with bat and ball, Jamie Snell has taken the role as Rasen’s Sunday XI captain with the continued support of Andy Quinlan.
The Sunday XI will remain in the Lincs League Division Two for the 2016 season, but hope to be challenging for the promotion places come the end of the season.
