MARINERS fought back well after conceding a penalty in the fifth minute, Amit Karavadra making no mistake from the spot, this spurred Fleece on and Mariners defended well and gradually took control.
Good movement and passing throughout the team and superb wing play by Stuart Davy created chances which were not converted, but eventually it was leading goal scorer Frazer Adam who equalised from a tight angle on the left of attack.

David Kendal went close and Captain Jason Lovely chipped one just over the bar.

Jason Andrews had another great game in midfield and with defenders Phil Steel, Byron Stapes, Luke Pocklington and Shane Rickets on top of their game confidence grew and it was midfielder Damon Short who put Mariners ahead with a superb strike giving the keeper no chance.

After the break, Fleece had a purple patch but Mariners restricted them to two shots on goal with Andy Mcqueen making one superb save and handling well.

It was Dids who scored Mariners' third and final goal after the luckless fleece keeper failed to hold across, the ball being presented to Dads on the goal line for a tap in.

Fleece's keeper then made amends making a string of superb saves to keep his team in contention.

Subs Andrew Steele, Ray Henning and Johny Bates joined the fray and Ray was unlucky not to get on the score sheet before the final whistle.

The game was well officiated by Malcolm Shotton.

On Saturday Mariners play away against Barnoldby in the E and M Trophy, transport leaves Wood Lane 12.30pm prompt.
