THIS was a great game and both teams contributed to full blooded action at Legbourne on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
Mariners could have been 3-0 up in the first 10 mines with terrific flowing football, Stuart Davy's pace opened up a chance for himself, with just a little steadiness required, but shot wide as did balls from Fraz and Dad.

Eventually after previous calls, a penalty was given to Mariners and although the keeper saved the initial shot the taker Captain Jase Lovely followed up to convert.

Mariners were now on fire and with a solid defence of Damon, Byron, Shane and Luke they settled down to play their best football of the season.

A brilliant second goal was scored by Luke Pocklington who outpaced everyone and scored from the narrowest of angles to make it 2-0.
Scamblesby rarely threatened but Andy Macqueen in goal was handling everything that came his way.

Phill and Milk were working well in midfield and Captain Lovely was inspiring in the centre of the park.

Fraz then scored an opportunist goal in a one to one on the keeper and a second one a little later to make it 4-0.

Scamblesby pulled one back before half time to make it 4-1.

The second half saw Scamblesby try to reduce the deficit, but Mariners missed further chances and in the last ten minutes Scamblesby scored 2 to make it a nail biting finish, with Andy pulling off the best save of the match to see them through to the next round.

A brilliant team effort but Stuart Davy stole the man of the match with his tireless running and back tracking.

Subs Eggy and Chris Watson after 12 weeks out through injury came on for Damon short and Byron Staples.

The game was well reffed by Nicky Jobson.
