WOODTHORPE Kart Club's ninth meeting of the year was held at the weekend at Strubby airfield, near Alford.
This month's meeting was also the O plate meeting. This gives the winner of each of the afternoon class finals the opportunity to have the O plate as their race number for the next 12 months at Strubby.

The weekend's action kicked off with the customary Saturday afternoon practice.

This is the chance for all the drivers and mechanics to fine-tune their chassis and engine set up before the pressure of race day.

With vital championship points at stake and the O plate going to the winner of each of the finals, the pressure was on all the drivers to put in a good set of performances through the day.

Sunday morning arrived and although the temperatures were not up with the September meeting, the track was still dry albeit with cold winds.

The assembled karters again did not disappoint the spectators who were gathered trackside to watch the frantic action.

Each of the classes put on yet another display of top notch racing right across the broad spectrum of karting that is on offer at Strubby.

It was a credit to all the karters race craft that they could race in such close proximity to each other lap after lap and race after race.

The local contingents of karters were again in the middle of the hectic on track action.

In the very competitive and closely fought out cadet class, Tommy Lee from Mablethorpe came second after a series of very consistent and mature drives.

In third place was Oliver Dunkerley, from Hogsthorpe.

Oliver put in a very creditable day's work at the wheel with a series of very quick front running drives.

In the 100 standard class, Matt Lacey, from Spilsby, was rewarded with a second place finish after a series of fast paced and level-headed drives.

In the 100 jnr class, Casey Turney, from Great Carlton, took a well-deserved win with a very quick and consistent drive.

In the pro-kart class, Alford's Rachel Smith took a clean sweep of all three heat wins and in the final, took the win.

Rachel put in another stellar performance at the wheel of her pro kart, the win in the final was a glowing testament to her maturity and race craft at the wheel of her pro kart.

In third place was Clare Smith (Rachel's sister). Clare was among the front runners all day long and was constantly pressurising the leaders in all the heats and the final with her mature and very fast-paced driving style.

The last meeting of this season will take place over the weekend of November 8 and 9.
